Last year I had a pretty good excuse, seeing as I had just given birth 6 days before his birthday, but this year I really wanted to make his birthday special. I planned...a beer party.

I decided an easy, quick to throw together party was in order, so I invited a bunch of friends over for Beer, Brats, and Birthday cake. (Bratwurst, not actual brats. We already have plenty of those.)

I bought a bunch of craft beers and put them on ice in a metal tub. I made a beer menu and used a picture stand to display it. I also got some of hubby's baby pictures and put them on a piece of wood with some scrap booking supplies. I basically just used it like a giant scrap book page. I made beer brats cut them into slices and served them with cubed cheese. Since the party was at 8 I didn't need to serve that much food.

And the Guiness cake...oh the Guiness cake. It was delicious. I used Nigella's recipe, you can find it HERE.

This is awesome! I love it! And that Guiness Cake sounds amazing...
ReplyDeleteGuiness cake...reminds me of our wedding reception! I may have to steal this idea in May for Tim's birthday!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the craziness of grouped birthdays. It's just the three of us and all of our birthdays are in may. My daughter's is the day before mine and mine is last so I have a feeling I'll be the one forgotten. In fact, two nights ago I actually uttered the words to my husband "at least you get to kick-off birthday month!"
