For What It's Worth: I don't feel much like being witty today, so I'm just going to vent. I often write blog posts in my head before I ever sit down at the computer, but today I got nothin.
Maybe it's the sleep deprivation talking, but why the hell are my children little germ factories? Are they manufacturing the illnesses just to drive me insane? I swear to you that as SOON as one of my kids gets over an illness, another one gets sick. From October to frickin March. Every year. Several times a month I am forced to be up all night because someone is puking/can't breathe through their nose/can't stop coughing.
Last night I was SO PSYCHED to be able to go to bed early. I had cleaned the kitchen after dinner, made lunches, and caught up on Downton Abbey all by 8:30. I was absolutely giddy about going to bed. Fast forward to 11:30 and Charlotte is in my room, beside my bed, telling me that she had puked all over the floor of her bedroom. After getting her settled on the couch with a bucket and a movie I went upstairs to clean up the mess. OMG. Just OMG.
Anywho she only threw up the one time, thankfully. But that didn't stop her from keeping me up all night. Oh and not to be outdone Ellie decided that 4am was a great time for a booby snack. Seriously? You're a year old. SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT FOR THE LOVE OF JESUS.
Today I am in full on zombie mode. I was feeling pretty gloomy earlier, until I found this little gem on Rants From Mommy Land. Watch it, you'll thank me :-)

Ohh I so hear you. Thank you for saying what I have thought SO many times. And yes, I never plan on going to bed early anymore, because somehow they know- last time for me it was croup. I was all set for bed and squirt #3 started the barking cough and the crying so instead I stayed up for another hour giving her a breathing treatment. Ohhh the joy.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! They say that once they grow up we'll be staying up all night waiting for them to get home. Not me. I'll be sound asleep.
I really do think they sense it. Mine like to wait until I've juuuust fallen asleep too, then they pop up next to my bed like a ninja.
DeleteBaby #2 didn't sleep through the night until she was 10 months old. And baby #3 is 7 months and counting, and still not sleeping through the night. I feel your pain. Good luck on getting some rest today!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristie! My second baby totally faked me out by sleeping through the night at 3 months. These last two seem to be nocturnal.
DeleteThank you for reminding me why I don't have kids :-)
ReplyDeleteAny time :-)
DeleteI feel your pain! My entire family has been sick with sinus infections, stuffy head colds, chest colds, and stomach viruses since two days after Christmas. I thought we were finally over it all until last night around midnight, my son puked bean burrito all over the side of his bed (down the box springs and onto the bed slats) as well as all over his carpet. I spent an hour and a half just steam cleaning up the carpet and then cleaning the steam cleaner! When does the madness ever end! Oh, and I still have to lay down in the bed with my soon-to-be 3 year old just to get her to sleep at night.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you had an equally bad night, but in some way, it makes me feel better that I am not alone. Hope everyone in your house is well soon.
If we have to be miserable at least we can be miserable together! I, of course, got sick today. (At least I can make it to the bathroom!)
DeleteI'm praying that both of our families are healthy from here on out.
Oh friend. I am so sorry...! Sounds like we need to plan a Mommy's Night Out soon?!?
ReplyDeleteYES! You name a time!
DeleteI feel your pain. I was in the Emergency Room Saturday night with one child, Sunday night with two children, and Monday night with one child (One child with three days in a row).
ReplyDeleteTwo children with croup plus one of those children also has an ear infection.
I have three kids (5, 3, and 1). The 1 year old thinks sleep time is between 11 p.m. and 4:30 a.m.
I can't wait for summer so the dumb germs go away!
Croup KILLS me. Every year. (((HUGS))) I hope they treated you well at the ER and that you won't have to see it again any time soon!
DeleteAlida, you can always make me laugh. I'd love to tell you when they get older it goes away. . . But only in our wildest dreams. My youngest is nine now, and they all know no matter how sick they are, they have to clean up their own puke. Puke is SO gross. I actually make them all keep an ice cream bucket under their bed. It helps sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to start making them clean up their own puke. You are hard core! I love it!
DeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better now. Being sick sucks. Being sick with kids sucks more and being sick right after your kids sucks even more...lol.
ReplyDeleteI got the bug first, the kids got it from me and then they gave it back to me. Let's hope they don't get it again. Man oh man I need a holiday.
here's to us being much healthier and way less zombie mode days..xoxox
