About me

I never know how much or how little to tell here.  Do I write my whole life story?  Just the highlights?  I probably overshare on the blog...so I'm just going to go ahead and overshare here too :-)  You clicked because you want to know right?

I married my first husband in 2001 and we had two beautiful children together.  In 2007 he was killed in Iraq.  I am now remarried to a wonderful man and have two more beautiful children.  My husband is a medical student so he is quite busy, so I'm often doing most everything around here.  That has led to a lot of fun DIY projects (no one to help me and no money to spend!)  I got much of my creativity from two women, my grandmother and my mother.  Both are now with Jesus.  I often blog about grief, as it is a familiar feeling to me.  I try to keep it real around here.  Whatever I'm going through, whatever is on my mind, I'm going to share it.  This blog is not only a place to show off my creations, but a way of unburdening myself.  I am also blogging about my weight loss journey recently.  My goal is to lose a pound a week until I reach my goal, 140.

Now that I've talked about all the crazy directions the blog goes in, let me talk about my main focus: sewing and crafts.  When I craft, sew and blog I aspire to innovate.  Making old things new again, ugly things pretty, making great clothing from thrift store rejects.  I don't blog every little project I do, I just don't have the time.  I really try to keep things interesting around here so I'm not going to blog about something that's already been done to death here in craft blog world.  My tutorials will probably not give you the "sewing class" version of how to do things, as I am mostly self-taught, I do things the way they make sense to me.  I have 4 kids and a hubby in med school, I don't have time to everything perfectly!  You will most likely be able to finish any tutorial on my blog within a couple of hours.  I just don't have time for lengthy projects!

How awesome are you! I like to "check-in" from time to time and see what your creative mind has been up to...you certainly inspire me.
